First and foremost, happy easter everyone. The Earth 2 team just released an exciting easter hunt for everyone to join in on. Five easter eggs are hidden in the video that was just released on YouTube, yesterday. The goal is to find all or one of the five eggs, first. Once you do, take a screenshot of the egg, highlight it, write your name „on it“ and post a picture to your Twitter account.
For those of you who don‘t have the patience, or searching skills, to take on the easter hunt, this video shows plenty of what the Earth2 world is capable of. This is the most impressive full time render we have seen from the Earth2.io team, just yet.
The landscape is evolving
In an earlier video that was released, we were shown a wide stretched landscape. The mountainous „grass lands“ were nice to see, but left a lot to the imagination. This time, the grass and trees look even more realistic. The level of detail is higher than what we had previously seen; a real treat to the eye.
But there is more.
The second half of the video shows more than just mountains, trees and a bit of grass. Buildings start popping up out of nowhere, like easter eggs.
High rise buildings
The buildings look like futuristic skyscrapers; they stand beautifully tall in the landscape. At first sight, all buildings look alike. However, in the end screen of the video, the Earth2-team explain that there will be room for mass customization of buildings, giving the platform a rich architectural diversity in the future.
These cities look nothing like our modern day world, and it is not clear if it ever will. I personally doubt that we will see one-to-one versions of our modern day cities in the game. However, the landscape will define what can be build „where“.
Join the hunt, win NFT
There is still time to join the Easter egg hunt on Earth 2. When you are one of the lucky (and candid) few who manage to find one of the eggs, you will be rewarded with E$ prizes and potentially an NFT-token for the egg that you‘ve found.
Since you are on Earth 2, and probably as much of a tech nerd as I am, I probably don‘t have to explain what NFTs are. But in case today is the first time you‘ve turned your phone/laptop on in the last 12 months, here is the Wikipedia explanation on NFTs:
A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unit of data on a digital ledger called a blockchain, where each NFT can represent a unique digital item, and thus they are not interchangeable. NFTs can represent digital files such as art, audio, videos, items in video games and other forms of creative work.
The NFTs can be bought on an NFT market. Access to any copy of the original file, however, is not restricted to the owner of the token.
While the digital files themselves are infinitely reproducible, the NFTs representing them are tracked on their underlying blockchains and provide buyers with proof of ownership of the NFTs.
Happy hunting and see you on the platform. Best Remco
